Braden’s Story

As a part of our ongoing series on former LegalWise participants who are now running their own legal practices, Braden Daniel Ahlberg of Braden Daniel Ahlberg Law reflects on his experiences and how LegalWise can help aspiring independent legal professionals like you.

What would you say to someone thinking about applying?

Do it! The LegalWise Advocates and professionals are welcoming and supportive. Attend some Mastermind meetings and you will know quickly if joining the program will be a good match to support your goals.

Before you encountered LegalWise, how did you feel about starting a practice?

Nervous, uncertain, and needing a lot of lawyering advice. I had very little practical experience.

What did you learn in your time with us that was most helpful?

I learned the tools I needed to take on unfamiliar areas of law or client issues with confidence, knowing that I have the resources to learn what I need, and a network of colleagues to discuss issues with. Frequently, other LegalWise attorneys could answer my questions from their own experience, point me to resources where I could find answers, connect me with outside attorneys or prior advocates who had experience in the area I was working.

Practicing solo can be isolating. LegalWise provided me an invaluable forum for discussion and support which made me feel that I was practicing with the other advocates and not completely on my own.

What are you doing now?

Lawyering! I primarily practice Plaintiff's employment litigation working with another solo attorney.
