Our Vision
With fewer new lawyers going into traditional big-law firm practice, LegalWise recognizes this time as the Golden Age of Solo Practice. Add to this the fact that, currently, a quarter of all United States lawyers practice in just two states, New York and California. Many states across the nation have few lawyers and some are actually losing lawyers.
Further, as a byproduct of the pandemic, there are fewer legal incubator programs available to new lawyers than there were in the years prior. Currently, fewer than 20 states have legal incubator programs and those that do are limited to attorneys practicing only in the state where the program is located. LegalWise is unique in that it is not limited to lawyers practicing only in Minnesota, but is available to all Mitchell Hamline graduates no matter where they hang their shingle.
This greatly enhances our ability to meet our vision of providing access to justice to underserved communities well beyond the scope of the typical legal incubator.
Our Values
Thanks to a law school education that centers on being “Great in theory. Even Better in Practice,” Mitchell Hamline graduates are uniquely poised to enter the field with the legal skills and practical knowledge they need to be effective and successful legal practitioners.
LegalWise’s program provides a resource for advocates to build upon these skills and knowledge to launch their successful community-based practices.
